Introduction to native plant gardening

This class is for anyone interested in learning about native plants. The instructor will provide a comprehensive overview of native plants; what are they, environmental benefits, how to grow native plants, landscape design, garden maintenance, and community engagement.

About the course
What will we do at this class?
This class will focus on holistic guidelines, rather than setting hard and fast rules. Participants will be encouraged to think creatively and enjoy their journey of native plant gardening.
Who should attend?
Home gardeners are the target audience for this class but anyone is welcome to participate.
What should I bring?
Paper, pen/pencil, and an interest in learning with the option to have ready site/plant specific questions, landscape map/plan, concerns/hold ups.
What will attendees receive?
This class will include a presentation with some demonstration of plants and garden design. Following will be time for questions, discussion, and selecting plants to take home. A comprehensive overview of native plants, confidence to design, plant, and maintain native plants in home landscapes, take-home resources and community links to dig deeper into native plants, and 15% off to purchase native plants from Above the Dirt Garden Shop that day. If available, attendees will also take home a free native plant garden sign specific to Jefferson County.
