What will we do at this class?
Week #1:
Through hands-on learning and guided practice, you'll learn to assess your growing space and understand sunlight patterns. We’ll explore different growing options (in ground, raised beds, and containers), choose the right plants for your space, and know when to plant them throughout the season. Together, we’ll create your garden plan. that includes what tools you’ll need and how to protect your future plants.
Week #2
Through hands-on learning and guided practice, you'll explore proper soil mixing, soil health, seed starting techniques, seed packet instructions, and essential plant care methods. We'll cover indoor growing equipment, proper watering practices, and crop protection. Together, we'll learn transplanting techniques, succession planting, and the basics of maintaining a healthy, productive garden throughout the growing season.
Week #3
You'll discover how to successfully integrate herbs like basil, thyme, cilantro, borage, and lemongrass alongside flowers such as marigolds, zinnias, and sunflowers into your garden space. Learn proper pruning techniques for herbs, harvest timing, and preservation methods including seed saving and drying herbs for seasonings and teas. We'll explore examples of plant combinations while learning how these plants support garden health by attracting pollinators.
